Mark Andrew Spitz (born February 10, ) is an American former competitive swimmer and nine-time Olympic champion. He was the most successful athlete at the Summer Olympics in Munich, winning seven gold medals, each in world-record time.

They are still together and have two sons: Matthew and Justin. Prior to the Olympics in Barcelona, Spitz attempted to qualify for the Olympics at 41 years old.
