Presbyterians on gay marriage

The Presbyterian Church (USA) voted to allow same-gender marriages on 19 June during its st General Assembly, making it one of the largest Christian denominations in the world to openly accept same-sex unions. This vote effectively lifted a previous ban and allows pastors to perform marriages in jurisdictions where it is legal.
Across the country, Presbyterians, inspired by the vision of a refocused church, are mapping next steps. For McNeill, executive director of More Light Presbyterians, next steps come down to two things: remembering that marriage was just a piece of a much longer arc toward welcome and inclusion and creating space for those with whom we disagree.
